LCSD Museums

From the History Museum, Museum of Art, Science Museum, and Space Museum to district-level specialist collections, the map plots LCSD museums with their official website links. Permanent exhibitions are free at many of them, while special exhibitions may charge separately.

Declared Monuments: Legally Protected Sites

A declared monument is a building, site, or structure protected under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance — temples, study halls, walled-village gate towers, military relics, and rock carvings among them. Each entry lists the name, address, year of declaration, and a link to the Antiquities and Monuments Office page.

Heritage Trails

Heritage trails string a district's historic buildings into one walking route — the Central and Western Heritage Trail, Ping Shan Heritage Trail, and Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail among them. The map shows each stop so you can join the route at whichever point is closest.

How does a declared monument differ from a graded historic building?
A declared monument is formally declared under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance and legally protected — it cannot be demolished or altered without permission. Grade 1 to 3 historic buildings carry an administrative grading used for conservation reference, with weaker legal protection. This map covers declared monuments.
Is there an admission fee for declared monuments?
Most are outdoors, in religious use, or on private land, with no uniform arrangement. Some have been opened for exhibition with set hours; others remain private homes or clan ancestral halls that can only be viewed from outside, so check the notices on site.
Are museums free to enter?
Permanent exhibitions at many LCSD museums are free; special exhibitions and certain venues may charge, and some museums offer free admission on Wednesdays. Check the latest LCSD announcement for the venue you plan to visit.
